Where's the diversity?

How much diversity does Mike Ware want on campus?

We already have a plethora of student organizations for women and the minority races and ethnicities on campus. We have several taxpayer-funded programs, offices and services that exist to "foster" diversity.

And we have more than enough celebrations, from multifaith holiday celebrations at the expense of Christmas, to MLK Week and Black History Month, to Pride Week in the spring.

Ware also forgets about the thousands of dollars of taxpayer money that has been spent on leftist speakers such as Al Sharpton, Angela Davis, Jesse Jackson, former Ambassador Joe Wilson, Michael Moore, Ron Jeremy, Tom Hayden and retired Gen. Wesley Clark in recent semesters.

All these individuals have one thing in common: They're staunch liberals.

For an institution "committed" to diversity, the list of speakers certainly is not diverse - there isn't a single conservative or right-leaning speaker on the list, which doesn't include the dozens of lower-profile speakers brought in by the various academic departments and colleges.

Diversity can be great, but it's a dangerous idea in the hands of people who only want one side propagated on campus.
