Trustees approve room, board rates, name interim deans for med school, alumni relations


Staff Reporter Jake Bolitho will be liveblogging the Board of Trustees meeting beginning at 9:30 a.m. today.

In an e-mail to campus, Dean of Students secretary Angela Coldwell said the Board is expected to select an interim president to succeed University President Michael Rao. Check back for updates.

9:31 a.m. Meeting begins. Opening public comments about diversifying the economy from a UAW representative.

9.41. a.m. Numerous personal recognitions and thanks from University President Michael Rao, who is in attendance at his final Board of Trustees meeting.

10:15 a.m. Trustees begin discussion of agenda. Topics include Academic Student Affairs Committee, tenured faculty. Brian Fannon discusses Facilities Management deferred maintenance projects. Future additions to the Health Professions Building and Ronan Hall renovations. Facilities Management recently arrived at an electrical contract extension for another year at the same rate.

10:34 a.m. Room and board rate increases discussed and passed. Three percent increase for residence halls, 2 percent for university apartments.

11:04 a.m. Financial aid resolution and Prof Ed tuition rate increase approved.

11:31 a.m.: Interim medical school dean named. Dean will be Cam Enarson of Creighton University. Appointed by Rao. Enarson has been dean of Creighton's School of Medicine for the last five years, and is also the vice president of health sciences.

11:46 a.m. Additions to the presidential screening committee announced. Stephanie Comai appointed to chair of committee.

12:01 p.m. Kathy Wilbur announced as interim univesity president. Salary will be increased to $220,000.
