The Central Michigan softball team was named the No. 5 seed in the Mid-American Conference tournament Sunday and will play No. 4 Ohio at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Firestone Stadium in Akron, Ohio.

CMU won both meetings against OU during the regular season.

The Chippewas finished the regular season 26-17 overall and 12-8 in the MAC after splitting a pair of games on Sunday against Western Michigan at Margo Jonker Stadium.

Home runs by senior Katie Greenman and sophomore Molly Coldren (two RBIs, three runs scored) led CMU to a 5-1 win in Game 1.

Junior Amanda Patrick went 2-for-3 with an RBI.

Junior Kari Seddon earned the win and improved her record to 15-9 for the season. She pitched a complete game and allowed two hits while striking out five.

Game 2

An RBI single by WMU's Meredith Whitney in the top of the ninth gave the Broncos a 2-1 extra innings win in the second game of the doubleheader.

CMU took an early 1-0 lead in the second but the Broncos tied the game in the fourth with a solo home run off starter Kara Dornbos.

Dornbos took the loss despite pitching all nine innings. She gave up two runs on five hits while striking out five.
