CMU partnership with Synergy Medical Education Alliance announced today

Central Michigan University’s College of Medicine has officially partnered with Synergy Medical Education Alliance in another step toward beginning clinical education for the college's students.

Following approval earlier this month from the board of trustees, the university has created a 501(c)3 corporation with Synergy today, a Saginaw-based organization which coordinates medical education efforts in the area, according to a statement from the university.

The partnership is called CMU Medical Education Partners, and will be an east campus for the College of Medicine, with the main campus located in Mount Pleasant.

The partnership is expected to make accreditation for the College of Medicine easier, said Dr. Ernest Yoder, the college's founding dean, during the Dec. 2 board meeting.

“LCME (the medical education accreditation organization) was very reassured by our relationship with Synergy,” Yoder told the board members. “This affiliation will bring us into perfect compliance with them.”
