The Central Michigan baseball team lost its Mid-American Conference opener Friday, falling 2-1 to the University of Miami in 11 innings at McKie Field in Oxford, Ohio.

CMU (9-13, 0-1 MAC) took a 1-0 lead in the third inning after junior Tyler Hall (2-for-5) tripled, scoring Brendan Emmett. MU's Bryce Redeker used an RBI double in the fourth to tie the game.

Brandon Adkins (1-1) earned the win for the RedHawks, while starter Mac Thoresen went 8 1/3 innings, allowing one run on seven hits and striking out nine.

Sophomore Jordan Dean went 2-for-4 for CMU.

Both teams continue the series, which was moved from Mount Pleasant because of inclement weather conditions, at 1 p.m. today in Oxford.
