Gymnastics paired in Alabama NCAA regional
The 25th-rannked Central Michigan gymnastics team will travel to Tuscaloosa, Ala., on April 2 to compete at the NCAA Regional Championships, the NCAA announced Monday.
Awarded the No. 5 seed, the Chippewas will compete against No. 2 Alabama, No. 11 Penn State, No. 14 Illinois, No. 22 Auburn and Kentucky.
The Chippewas lone loss this season came to Illinois by a score of 195.750-194.525 on Feb. 5.
Last season, the squad finished fourth at the NCAA Central Regional Championships in Lexington, Ky., ending the meet with a total score of 195.125. Both Alabama (197.400) and Illinois (195.425) placed higher than the Chippewas.
