CMU announces 2011-12 wrestling schedule

The Central Michigan wrestling team now knows the road it will travel to compete for an 11th straight Mid-American Conference Tournament championship.

The schedule was released Thursday by head coach Tom Borrelli.

CMU hosts multiple big-name programs.

Minnesota, who finished seventh at last year’s NCAA Championships, will arrive on Dec. 2, 2011, and Lehigh, who finished one spot lower than the Gophers, will wrestle the Chippewas on Jan. 27, 2012.

One day after Minnesota, CMU wrestles in its first MAC meet of the season, facing Ohio at McGuirk Arena.

The Chippewas will also host Michigan State on Feb. 16, 2012 as a part of its non-conference schedule.

The National Dual meet in Ithaca, NY is a notable meet. CMU is one of 24 teams participating.

It will wrestle against American, Cornell, Oklahoma, Illinois and Purdue. If the Chippewas advance, they will be a part of a four-team national championship the week after.
