CMU Public Relations: 'Students should report to their classes' Monday despite possible work action
CMU officials are still planning for classes Monday, though an agreement with more than 600 members of the Faculty Association hasn't been struck.
"Students should report to their classes," said Director of Public Relations Steve Smith.
Monday, the FA took a vote to allow "any and all job actions" which could include not showing up to teach, to not attending meetings, returning emails and holding office hours.
Smith said it would be "speculatory" to comment on what would happen Monday should faculty decide to have a work stoppage.
The FA has tentatively planned a closed meeting at 7 p.m. Sunday in the Mount Pleasant High School auditorium, 1155 S. Elizabeth St.
FA members have been without a contract since June 30 and, before this week, the last time the two sides had met was July 15.
Though the two sides have met most of the week, both are saying no agreement has been reached.
FA President Laura Frey said in a press release that no progress was made between the two during a meeting Thursday. A state mediator joined talks Friday.
