Softball travels to Florida for USF Invite


Central Michigan softball defeated Providence 8-7 Friday in the first of thirteen games at the USF Under Armour Showcase in Clearwater, Fla.

The Chippewas (9-6) saw substantial offensive production from Junior shortstop Trista Cox, who scored two runs while going 2-4 with a homerun.

Everyday catcher, senior Cory DeLamielluere was given the day off defensively, and served as the team’s DH.  DeLamielleure went 2-3, scoring two runs and driving in one.

Senior pitcher Morgan Yuncker went three innings, allowing two hits and two earned runs.

Another senior, Chelsea Sundberg got the win pitching four innings, allowing two earned runs on four hits.  Sundberg and Yuncker struck out two Providence hitters apiece.
