CMU online programs among top in the nation

Serving the academic needs of students outside the classroom, Central Michigan University's online education programs are some of the best in the America, according to a recent report from U.S. News and World Report. 

The 2015 rankings place CMU fifth in the nation for its online graduate education programs for teacher and administrators. It is the only Michigan university to place in the top 10.

The university also ranked 13th in best online bachelor's programs, the only Michigan school to land in the top 25. It was 25th for the online graduate master's of business administration program, the only Michigan school to place in the top 50 of that category. 

"These standings are a tremendous recommendation of the quality of our programs, the faculty who teach them and the student support services provided by our staff," said Peter Ross, vice president of CMU's Global Campus, who oversees CMU's online programs. 

Rankings factors student engagement, faculty credentials and training, student services and technology along with peer review. 

Last year, CMU's online undergraduate and graduate programs were named as the top choice of veterans in the country by U.S. News and World Report. Global Campus delivers courses to more than 20 military bases across the country. 

"We at CMU are committed to continuing our leadership in online programs, ensuring an academic quality and the necessary, distinctive online services that support student success," said Provost Michael Gealt. "That's critical as we work to expand our program offerings to meet the demands of the marketplace."
