Central Michigan senior Taylor Bolender was honored as this week's Mid-American Conference Specialist of the Week in gymnastics.

Bolender, the defending MAC floor exercise champion, scored CMU's first 9.9 of the season in her routine during Friday's 194.775-193.575 victory against Brigham Young. The 9.9 is .25-points away from her career best on floor.

Bolender is one of two MAC gymnasts to score a 9.9 in an event this season — along with Kent State's Rachel Stypinski. Bolender is ranked 39th in the nation on the floor routine.

CMU freshman Kasey Janowicz was a nominee for MAC Gymnast of the Week after winning the all-around last week, recording a personal best of 39.

The Chippewas and Bolender kick off conference play Friday on the road against Northern Illinois at 8 p.m. The team lost to NIU a year ago by 0.1-points before topping them a month and a half later in the MAC Tournament.
