School of Broadcast to host 43rd annual Awards Banquet

The 43rd annual Awards Banquet for the School of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts is scheduled to take place form 6 to 10 p.m. on April 22 at Buck's Run Golf Resort.

The banquet will recognize student work and outstanding achievement within the school. Awards presented at the event include the Academic Achievement Award, Film Society Outstanding Service Award, the People's Choice Award, the Al Painter Memorial Outstanding Newcomer Award and the Broadcast and Cinematic Arts Award.

Tickets cost $25 and are available for purchase in Moore Hall room 340 or by contacting Joan McDonald, executive secretary of the School  of Broadcast and Cinematic Arts, at mcdon1jk@cmich.edu or phone, (989) 774-3851. They will be available until 5 p.m. on April 18. 

In addition to the award, eight alumni from the class of 1976 will be recognized and honored in the third annual Pioneer Award. Established three years ago, the Pioneer Awards honor alumni of the school, and started with the class of 1974.

Bill Fritz, executive producer of docudramas for BBC Worldwide Productions, is scheduled to be the keynote speaker for the event. An alumni of the program, Fritz graduated from Central Michigan University in 1983.
