City looks to fill board and commission positions

The City of Mount Pleasant is accepting applications to fill seats on its boards and commissions.

The open positions include building authority, fire and sanitary sewer board of appeals, historic district commission, planning commission and zoning board of appeals.

Lori Gillis, city commissioner, said she looks to get more Central Michigan University students involved in the city's government.

"I think it would be great if we got more college students involved," she said. "The solutions and ideas between CMU students and Mount Pleasant residents would benefit if there were more people involved. The students are vital for this community, they are just as much of our community as the residents who live here."

Anyone who turns in an application must be a resident of Mount Pleasant and a registered.

All positions are partial terms and expire between December of this year and December of 2019.
