Delta Phi Epsilon and Phi Sigma Phi team up against Alpha Gamma Delta and Sigma Pi during the final round of the Volley Against Violence Volleyball Tournament for Alpha Chi Omega's Philanthropy Week on March 23 at Morey Courts.

Hundreds of members of the Greek community gathered to cheer on their peers at the Morey Courts at 7:30 March 23, for the "Volley Against Violence" volleyball tournament.

The tournament was organized by Alpha Chi Omega to conclude its "Donut Let Love Hurt" philanthropy week, where the sorority aimed to raise money and awareness for domestic violence issues. The 11 competing teams were made up of six people, three men and three women, representing a fraternity and sorority team.

The fraternity and sorority teams were also paired throughout the week, driven by the goal to win points for their Greek organizations, which have been accumulating at other “Donut Let Love Hurt” events. The teamed organizations with the most points will win $100 to donate to its respective philanthropies.

After a two-hour elimination process, the final match saw the Alpha Gamma Delta and Sigma Pi team take first place against the Delta Phi Epsilon and Phi Sigma Phi team.

In victory, the winning Greek duo celebrated on the court along with the members of their chapters who attended the game to support them.

Grand Ledge sophomore Tyler Quick, a member of the Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, said he participated in the volleyball tournament to have fun while “supporting a great cause.”

Quick said it would be meaningful if Tau Kappa Epsilon received the most points during philanthropy week, because its philanthropy of choice shares the same sentiment of Alpha Chi Omega — to educated people about domestic violence and assault.

However, the Sigma Kappa sorority and the Phi Delta Theta Fraternity won the most points during the philanthropy week, totaling at 1,475. Its points were 879 more than the second place winning team, Delta Zeta and Alpha Phi Alpha, who received 596 points.

Sigma Kappa will donate its winning money toward Alzheimer's disease research and awareness, the sorority's issue of philanthropic efforts.
