Golf to Compete in the MAC Championships

The Central Michigan golf team will compete in the Mid-American Conference Championships this weekend at the Silver Lake Country Club in Kent, Ohio from Friday to Sunday.

The Silver Lake Country Club features 120 acres of numerous hazards that will give the Chippewas their toughest challenge this spring.

Natalie Johnson and the rest of the team aim to build off their success at the Delores Black Falcon Invitational where they finished third overall out of ten teams, the Chippewa’s best team finish since the golf program was re-launched in 2014.

Leading the Chippewa’s this weekend will be Johnson, who finished third overall individually at the Delores Black Falcon Invitational with a 153 total and team best 73 during the second round.

Bria Colosky, Holly Hines, Danielle Sawyer, and Kristen Wolfe will also be competing for the Chippewas this weekend. All five ladies have led the team at some point this season with their play.

Competing in the MAC Championships this weekend includes Akron, Ball State, Bowling Green, Eastern Michigan, host Kent State, Northern Illinois, Ohio, Toledo, and Western Michigan.

Akron, Kent State, and Toledo will be the favorites heading into the weekend as each team has had at least two 1st place finishes in invitationals this spring. All three teams have also had two golfers of the week per the official MAC website.

With a successful weekend, the Chippewas could have the opportunity to compete in the National College Athletic Association regionals or individually if one of the Chippewa’s finishes in the top five.
