Michigan Municipal League will host a Community Financial Health Forum at 6 p.m. Tuesday, May 2 at City Commission Chambers in the Historic Borden Building, 320 W. Broadway St.

The event is free and open to the public.

The forum will address how local governments across the state are financially struggling, according to an MML press release. MML’s statewide initiative, SaveMICity, is working to inform how the system is hurting the economy.

Among the panelists will be Ken Hibl, Clare City Manager; Phil Moore, Alma City Manager; and Mary Ann Kornexl, Mount Pleasant Finance Director and Treasurer.

Matt Bach, MML director of media relations, said the SaveMICity initiative includes visits across the state to discuss the broken system for funding municipalities. Bach encourages city commissioners, residents and business owners to attend the forum.

“The purpose of this meeting is to meet with residents and citizens of community and talk to them about possible solutions,” Bach said.
