Central Michigan University's chapter of the Society of Professional Journalists will connect communication and fine arts students to student organizations at the inaugural Moore MainStage.

Registered Student Organizations in the College of Communication and Fine Arts will be gathering in the Townsend Kiva inside Moore Hall on Sept. 19 from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

“It’s a mini-MainStage for only the College of Communication and Fine Arts,” SPJ vice president Clarissa Kell said.

The Powers senior said she wants new students to get help in getting involved because she had a hard time finding organizations relevant to her major when she first came to CMU. Some of these organizations, like Central Michigan Life, were not at the MainStage event at the beginning of the semester, Kell said.

Organizations scheduled to attend include CM Life, Grand Central Magazine, Photo Club and Film Society. Each organization will have their own table and representatives to provide information to attendees.

“This is our first test run for the event," Kell said. "We would like to have more organizations be involved going forward. Our main goal is to have students get experience in the communications college.”
