Mount Pleasant's Christmas Celebration, originally scheduled for Dec. 4 and 5, has been canceled in light of rising coronavirus cases according to a Nov. 17 post on the city website.

Among the canceled events are Breakfast with Santa, Candy Cane Lane, Santa’s House and the annual Christmas Parade.

"The most generous thing we can do for each other this holiday season is to follow the guidelines of health officials and continue to wear a mask, social distance, and follow gathering guidelines," the post read.

Even without the usual holiday festivities, the Community Christmas Tree will still be on display in Town Center this year. The city has also planned a drive-in screening of "Elf" at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19 in the City Hall parking lot (320 W. Broadway Street).

Attendees must pre-register or the free event online.
