Central Michigan University students and staff members were both happy and irritated by the heavy snowfall over the weekend.

Some people were happy with the snowfall and saw it as an opportunity to engage in much needed outdoor activity. Lansing senior Andrew Tiffany said he went sledding after the snowfall.

"It's definitely nice to get out of the apartment life because I've felt so trapped since the pandemic started," Tiffany said.

Tiffany planned on going sledding again during the weekend once he was done studying. He said sledding is a nice outdoor, socially distanced activity.

Shelby Township junior Kaylin Macks said she is a big fan of the snow and went cross country skiing over the weekend.

"We just kind of explore the woods for a while and it's honestly really relaxing," Macks said. "A lot different than down hill skiing, but it's still kind of a workout, which is fun."

Macks also plans on going sledding. She said it's a fun activity, even when you're older.

"I think it's just really fun to have snow and especially when I know people who don't live in areas where there is snow," Macks said. "You kind of forget that it's something to kind of be grateful for. As long as it's sunny out too, it makes the day, just a really beautiful day."

For Burlington, Wisconsin senior Bridget Bittmann, the snowfall disrupted her early morning run. Although her plans included staying in and watching movies, she was hoping to go cross country skiing once the wind settled down.

"I really enjoy snow," Bittmann said. "It's fun to take advantage of it when it's not so windy."

Students weren't the only ones who took the time to enjoy the snowy campus and surrounding area. Office of Information Technology staff member and Mount Pleasant native Lucus Reid expressed his satisfaction with the snow.

"I like it when it snows, I think was a pretty decent snowfall myself," Reid said. "I'd rather see more snow in winter myself. I hope it stays around. I like warm weather but winter without snow is not really a very interesting or fun winter."

Reid said although he had no concrete snow related plans, he was considering taking his two-year-old sledding.

However, Midland sophomore Levale Walker is not a fan of the recent snow.

"There was a lot, it was obnoxious amount of snow," Walker said.

Belleville sophomore Zandalee Henderson, agreed with Walker. She said the amount of snow was annoying.

Neither have plans regarding the snow. Instead, both spent the time relaxing.
