Chippewa volleyball's Grace Butler, Kamryn Olson win MAC Setter of the Week award

The volleyball team broke its losing streak with a 3-2 win over Northern Illinois, Feb. 4 at McGuirk Arena.

Senior Grace Butler and freshman Kamryn Olson have been recognized for excellent play in the last week of Central Michigan's volleyball team.

Butler and Olson were named Mid-American Conference Co-Setters of the Week on Monday after strong showings from both in the Chippewas' weekend sweep of Akron. 

Led by Butler and Olson, the Chippewas earned a 3-2 win on Thursday and 3-1 win on Friday against the Zips in McGuirk Arena. 

Butler, a senior from Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, contributed 52 assists and 18 digs across both games against Akron.

Olson, a freshman from LaSalle, Illinois, had 48 assists and 33 digs. 

This is Butler's fourth MAC West Setter of the Week award of her career. She earned the other three in 2019 and Olson earned the first award of her career.

CMU (7-5) is on a four-match winning streak and set to host Bowling Green (11-0) for a two-match set. The first is set for 2 p.m. Thursday in McGuirk Arena.
