The Central Michigan University Student Government Association announced that Katelyn King was elected to serve as president with Dylan Baker as vice president and Olivia Schwartz as treasurer for the 2021-22 academic year.

The ticket was against SGA House Leader Kyle Walker and Senate Leader Nolan Kamoo. The treasurer King and Baker ran with, Kevin Bautista-Mancilla, lost.

King, New Lenox, Illinois junior, said election night was "nerve-wracking."

"Getting the call from (SGA President Katie Prebelich) lifted all of the weight off of my shoulders," she said.

King said she will "potentially" be hiring a cabinet before the semester ends.

Baker, Byron sophomore, said he was "content" during election week due to hearing support from student leaders across campus.

Yet, Schwartz, Hamilton sophomore, was in the unique position of being elected as the treasurer to the opposing ticket. She originally ran with current Walker and Kamoo, but was voted in over Bautista-Mancilla.

"It's a little bit of an intimidating position to be in," Schwartz said. "But I am confident that the three of us will work well together and will be able to serve the needs of the student body."
