A blood drive organized by the Health Professions Residential College will be held on Sept. 24 in partnership with Community Church of Mount Pleasant and Versiti Blood Center.

Donations will take place from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sept. 24 in the chapel area of the Mount Pleasant Community Church. This is the second time the HPRC has partnered with the local church for a blood drive.

Donations of blood will go towards a growing need for blood as recent events have drained the current supply.

“The biggest (reason to donate) in America is the impact of hurricanes, especially Ida,” Director of the HPRC Pat Cwiek said. Cwiek helped organize the event along with students.

Those who donate will be given a $10 e-gift card.

Walk-ins are welcome and appointments to donate can be made at Versiti.org or by calling 866-642-5663.

Student volunteers will provide COVID-19 screening questions at the door to ensure safety for all those who choose to donate.
