Meeder wins MAC West Special Teams Player of the Week

Central Michigan kicker Marshall Meeder was named Mid-American Conference West Division Special Teams Player of the Week for his perfect performance in the Chippewas’ 26-23 overtime win over Toledo Oct. 16.

Meeder, an Eaton Rapids native, made all four field goals and both extra points he attempted Saturday. He made the overtime game-winner and also hit from 46, 51 and 44 yards against the Rockets.

The four-for-four showing gives Meeder seven consecutive makes over two games after a four-game stretch in which he was three-for-eight.

On the season, Meeder remains perfect on extra points and is 11-for-16 on field goals with a long of 51. Last season, as a true freshman, he was a first-team All-MAC selection after going a perfect eight-for-eight on field goals.

Meeder and the Chippewas host Northern Illinois at noon Oct. 23 at Kelly/Shorts Stadium.
