A disc golfer attempts to land a disc into a basket during the sixth-annual Wilddeer Open at Deerfield Nature Park, Sunday, Oct. 18.

CMU’s sports administration master’s program is hosting a disc golf tournament in support of Sawyer’s Light Project and Mott Children’s Hospital.

Sawyer’s Light is a non-profit foundation created by the Bruursemafamily, whose son suffered with congenital heart defects. They created this origination and are working with Mott Children’s hospital to help families who are in a similar situation.

The tournament will take place at 9 am on Saturday, Oct. 23 at Deerfield Nature Park. Registration/check begins at 7am. The cost to register is $5 if you are a registered member of Professional Disc Golf Association and $10 if you are not.

It doesn’t matter if you are good at disc golf, just alright at it, or have no idea how to play. The tournament is split up into different divisions based on the skill of each person signed up.

To help raise funds for Sawyers Light, items will be auctioned off. Items include disc golf baskets from My Boy Chris’s Disc Golf Shop and Smokin Gems. A playe who earns an ace pool (a hole in one) the player will recieve the funds collected or donate to Sawyers Light Foundation. Other prizes will be raffled off with all proceeds of the raffle will go to the Sawyers Light Project and Mott Children’s hospital.

Food and drinks will be provided thanks to sponsor Big Apple Bagels and Starbucks.
