CMU Gymnastics competes in the Maroon and Gold meet Saturday, Dec.4, in McGuirk Arena.

Following a dazzling all-around performance by Central Michigan standout Hannah DeMers against conference foe Eastern Michigan, the junior was awarded the Mid-American Conference Gymnast of the Week. DeMers is no stranger to the award, having now received the distinction five times in her career at CMU thus far.

She took the award three times last season and once the season prior.

This announcement was made on the heels of DeMers’ impressive previous outing in Ypsilanti, which saw her take home the crown for three individual events (uneven parallel bars, balance beam, and floor), while tying for top honors in the vault. She ended with a 39.400 all-around score.

The Canton native will look to build upon this performance as the new season ramps up. Coming off of a season where she earned the MAC individual title on bars, preseason expectations were sky-high. Having already tied one career high mark in the balance beam (9.875), all indications suggest another decorated season for DeMers.

DeMers and the rest of Central Michigan gymnastics will return to competition on Friday, Jan. 21st at 6 P.M. as they head to Bowling Green to face off against the Falcons.
