Women's basketball falls to 2-11 in MAC with loss to Kent State

Down to seven players in uniform, Central Michigan (4-18, 2-11) women’s basketball couldn’t keep pace with Kent State (14-7, 6-6) on Wednesday as the Golden Flashes secured the season sweep with a 78-67 victory in McGuirk Arena. 

The Chippewas entered the contest without senior Kalle Martinez and freshman Tiana Timpe. 

Kent State’s Nila Blackford led all players in scoring with 16 points while adding nine rebounds and two steals. 

Freshman Hanna Knoll led the Chippewas with 20 points, going 5-for-8 from deep and adding 3 rebounds. Senior Jahari Smith finished with 13 points, nine rebounds and two steals. 

Kent State took control of the interior scoring 38 points in the paint compared to 24 for CMU. 

CMU heads to Oxford, Ohio to face Miami (OH) at 1 p.m. Saturday.
