CMU wrestler Corbyn Munson named MAC Wrestler of the Week
With wins in 10 of his last 11 matches, junior Corbyn Munson has been named Mid-American Conference Wrestler of the Week.
This achievement comes from going 2-0 on the weekend against Big Ten schools Michigan State and Michigan. Munson took down Michigan State wrestler Peyton Omania. He continued to dominate on the weekend with a pin over 25th nationally ranked Kanen Stror from the University of Michigan.
Wrestling in the 149-weight class, Munson has dominated for the Chippewas coming out aggressive every time he hits the mat. Munson’s scoring typically comes from quick takedowns early in the match and controls most of his matches.
The junior from Chelsea is in his second season as the 149-pound starting wrestler. He is ranked 26th nationally and leads the Chippewas with twenty-two wins this season with two pins. His wins this weekend brings his record to 22-6 on the season.
