In a series sweep against Miami (Ohio) there was one individual pitching performance that stood out amongst the rest.

Midland senior Jordan Patty was named the Mid-American Conference pitcher of the week for the fifth time in his career.

“(Patty) had such a good career for us and obviously he was off to a slow start this year, but you never stop trusting who he was and his preparation and his process,” said head coach Jordan Bischel.

In eight innings pitched he threw 113 pitches, faced 28 batters, threw eight strikeouts, allowed only three hits and one walk with zero runs and zero runs earned.

In the opening game of the series, he got off to a hot start with a perfect first two innings. In the third he allowed one single and in the fourth he allowed one double but was able to manage the bases without a RedHawks score.

He’d then go on to have a perfect fifth and sixth innings that included three punchouts and would only allow one walk in the seventh and a single in the eighth.

He shut the RedHawks out and was relieved in the ninth as the Chippewas would go on to win 2-0.

Though Patty has had an up-and-down start to the season, historically he’s been one of the best arms in program history.
