With time running out on the season, Central Michigan secured a pivotal victory over a Mid-American Conference rival.

CMU handed Robert Morris its first MAC loss, beating them 12-11. The Chippewas (9-7, 7-2) are only one game behind the Colonials with one game to play.

It was Kelly Hoyt who provided the game winner, scoring with less than a minute to play from in front of the net. Her goal was the last of four unanswered by the Chippewas in the fourth quarter, including two from herself.

Robert Morris scored three consecutive goals, beginning with one in the late stages of the third, to take an 11-8 lead in the fourth. Yet, the Chippewas responded undaunted starting with a goal from Hoyt.

After Brennan Paddy scored to make it 11-10, Hoyt went back-to-back to give the Chippewas the victory.

Paddy scored two goals, while Hoyt and Maggie Diebold shared the team lead with three. Audrey Whiteside had two, with Reagan Martinsen and Kendall Hoyt each notching one.

The Chippewas outshot and less than turnovers than Robert Morris. The Chippewas had 28 shots with 19 of those shots on goal. Robert Morris only had 19 shots with 18 of those on goal. CMU had 18 turnovers compared Robert Morris 20.

CMU had 6 players find the back of the net in the game. Two players in Diebold and Hoyt scored hattricks. Diebold keeps her streak of seven straight games with three or more goals.

The Chippewas will play their last regular season game before the MAC tournament as they travel to Akron Saturday, Apr. 4.
