CMU baseball once again extended its winning streak with five victories last week, and a pair of Chippewas came away with Mid-American Conference weekly honors for their contributions.

Sophomore outfielder Drew Lechnir earned the MAC Player of the Week distinction, while freshman pitcher Adam Mrakitsch was named MAC Pitcher of the Week.

Hailing from Kimberly, Wisconsin, Lechnir had 18 plate appearances last week, picking up 11 hits in total while driving in 10 runs and only striking out twice. Lechnir is hitting .406 in 64 at-bats with an on-base percentage of .444 this season.

Mrakitsch, a lefty from Howell, Michigan, started two games for Central Michigan this week and received the win in both. On Tuesday against Madonna, Mrakitsch saw three innings of work, registering a career-high six strikeouts while only sacrificing a single hit. He also got the start for the series finale against Akron on Sunday, tossing 6 1/3 scoreless frames and only giving up three hits while striking out one.

Both Chippewas are first-time recipients of their respective awards.

CMU (28-10, 21-1) returns to action this weekend for a four-game series against Ball State in Muncie, Indiana.
