Next week, students can learn more about studying and immersing themselves in a cross-cultural experience at Central Michigan University’s Study Abroad Fair.

The event will take place from 6 to 8 p.m. on Sept. 20. in the Bovee University Center Rotunda. There will be representatives from overseas affiliates, CMU faculty-led programs and student ambassadors who can speak on their experiences and answer questions.

According to the Office of Global Engagement, students from all majors and levels are encouraged to attend and learn about the 150 study and internship opportunities in 50 different countries that CMU has to offer. Students can work with an OGE advisor to find short term or semester-long programs, including summer trips. The OGE staff can also help students in their application process and scholarship opportunities.

Marko Schubert, assistant director of Study Abroad, said OGE is looking forward to finally having trips to countries like New Zealand, Australia, and Japan, which have been closed previously due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“It’s a very transformative experience for students. They may be very nervous about it before they go, but they come back much more confident,” Schubert said.

Applications for Spring 2023 trips are still open online through the end of September for those who are interested. Students can also email studyabr@cmich.edu with questions about how to study abroad.
