Ammeraal and Whitfield receive MAC Player of the Week honors

Coming off of a statement weekend, two Central Michigan volleyball players stood out from the pack and earned Mid-American Conference Player of the Week honors. 

Freshman setter Claire Ammeraal received MAC West Setter of the Week, putting up 83 assists, 18 kills and 23 digs in the Chippewas' two wins against Ball State. In game two, Ammeraal completed the triple-double with 39 assists, 11 kills, and 15 digs. 

Senior middle blocker Maddie Whitfield earned MAC West Defensive Player of the Week, recording 12 blocks and 16 kills. Whitfield is currently ranked first in blocks in the MAC with 58 blocks, averaging 1.16 blocks per set. 

CMU Volleyball is currently 9-4 overall and undefeated in MAC play. The Chippewas will look to continue their successful MAC start when they face off against Toledo on Thursday at 6 p.m.
