Senior outside hitter Mallory Hernandez talks to freshman outside hitter Natalie Rejement during CMU's game against Ball State Saturday, Sept. 24 in McGuirk Arena.

As Central Michigan volleyball secured three-straight sweeps last week, senior outside hitter Mallory Hernandez stepped up and led the offensive attack.

As a result, Hernandez was named Mid-American Conference West Offensive Player of the Week.

Hernandez put up 41 kills in three games on a .538 hitting percentage along with seven blocks. She ended the three-game stretch on a high note in the second matchup against Miami (Ohio), with 17 kills on a season-high .810 hitting percentage.

It is her second time receiving MAC Player of the Week honors this season.

CMU is currently riding a three-game win streak and is 14-8 on the season and 7-4 in MAC play.

The Chippewas will go on the road for their next matchup when they face off against Akron on Friday.
