After being named Mid-American Conference Offensive Player of the Week earlier in the week, Central Michigan football freshman quarterback Bert Emanuel Jr. was named the Earl Campbell Tyler Rose National Player of the Week on Tuesday.

In his standout performance during the Chippewas' 31-27 win over Buffalo, Emanuel rushed for 293 yards. That was the most by a CMU quarterback and the fourth-most ever recorded by a Chippewa.

The Earl Campbell Tyler Rose Award honors the legacy of Texas native Earl Campbell and his home community of Tyler, Texas.

Emanuel hails from Houston, Texas.
