Freshman guard Reggie Bass shoots a free throw during a game against Northern Illinois Saturday, Feb. 25 in McGuirk Arena. Bass scored 21 points off of free throws, going 21-24 on the line. Greg Hotchkiss, CMU's Associate Athletic Director for Communications, reported Bass' 21 free throws set a new record for CMU, passing the 19 David Webber made during a game against Miami (Ohio) in 2002.

Following the end of the basketball season, freshman guard Reggie Bass announced that he plans to enter the transfer portal after being named Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year on Wednesday.

Bass announced the news via Instagram on Friday.

Hailing from Muncie Indiana, Bass stepped into the role of starting guard following the injury to sophomore guard Kevin Miller in November.

Bass became a key role in the Chippewas offense, playing an average of 30.9 minutes in a game and averaging 12.4 points per game. Bass averaged 26 points in his last five games of the season, including a career high 40 points and set a school record for most free throws in a game at 21 against Northern Illinois on February 25.

Earlier this season, Bass also earned MAC Player of the Week on January 2 following a game winning three-pointer against Michigan.
