Keegan Batka named Mid-American Conference Pitcher of the Week

Junior righthand pitcher Keegan Batka throws a pitch during a doubleheader against Kent State, Friday, March 24 in Keilitz Field at Theunissen Stadium. Batka was the winning pitcher for the second game of the doubleheader.

For the third consecutive week, a Central Michigan baseball player was awarded for their performance by the Mid-American Conference. Junior right-handed pitcher Keegan Batka was named pitcher of the week on Monday. 


Over the past week, in his two appearances Batka combined for a total of 10 shutout innings, allowing only five hits and three walks. 

On Wednesday he got the start in a midweek battle against Madonna where he allowed only one hit in two scoreless innings. 

His big performance came on Sunday when he gave the Chippewas eight innings of work, while striking out 10 batters. His inning and strike out career high outing led CMU to a 3-0 win in the series finale against Akron.

Batka, in his first season as a Chippewa currently posts a 5-2 record along with a 4.25 ERA and 49 strikeouts in his 11 appearances.
