Students and community members get comfortable before the movie night begins at Kelly Shorts Stadium.

The international movie event took place from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sep. 3 at the Central Michigan University Kelly/Shorts Football Stadium.

The event was organized by the Office of Student Activities and Involvement and CMU Program Board.

The movie choice was "English Vinglish," an Indian Hindi-language comedy drama about a small entrepreneur who enrolls in an English-speaking course to stop her family from mocking her lack of English skills according to Engage Central

The Executive Director of the Recreation Program and Student Activity Center Jennifer Nottingham said the goal of the movie night is to show that “CMU cares for all its students.”

"It all started with a simple conversation and a request from our international students,” Nottingham said. “We wanted to create a warm and welcoming atmosphere, especially during Labor Day weekend when many Americans go home.

“We hope this movie night fosters community and connections.”
