Central Michigan softball traveled to Ann Arbor to compete against Michigan Wednesday.

The Chippewas were defeated by the Wolverines 5-0 as junior pitcher Madelyn Wallace took a loss, giving up two runs in the first inning.

The Chippewas held Michigan to zero runs in the next three innings. Sophomore Mackenzie Langan struck out two, had one hit and no runs through three innings.

CMU saw a few rotations on the mound as freshman pitcher Brooklyn Campau allowed three runs in the fifth and sixth innings before senior pitcher Grace Lehto finished the game for Central Michigan.

The matchup also displayed the first matchup between senior right fielder Michaleigh Vallimont and her sister Lilly Vallimont who plays for the Wolverines. This is the first time the two have competed against each other at the collegiate level.

The Chippewas are now 7-24 overall and 4-5 in conference competition.

CMU will host Buffalo starting at 3 p.m. on Friday in Margo Jonker Stadium.
