The Academic Senate meets on Oct. 28 in the French Auditorium at Central Michigan University.

Faculty voted to approve a new minor in Digital Strategies during the Central Michigan University's Academic Senate meeting on Oct. 28.

The new minor offers students an opportunity to gain experience in public relations, multimedia writing and strategic approaches.

"The minor was developed to give students complementary knowledge that enhances their major field of study. It broadens academic experience and deepens understanding of how communication, technology, and strategy intersect across industries," Elina Erzikova of the School of Communication, Journalism and Media said.

The program is to come with flexibility for students who want to explore different routes in Digital Strategy.

"A student interested in social media management might focus on courses in social media dynamics and analytics," Erzikova said.

Students who graduate with the minor will gain the knowledge to pursue further roles in marketing, public relations and corporate communication.
