The ball is in the air, and Central Michigan Women’s Soccer forward Jordan Bailey, has some space but needs to volley the ball to get a shot off in time. She shoots the ball, but it rolls off her foot.

The final whistle blows. Another loss.

The Chippewas lost to the Buffalo Bulls 1-0 on Sunday at UB Stadium in Buffalo, NY.

The teams had polar opposite forms going into the match. The Chippewas entered the game with four straight losses, while the Bulls had a five-game win streak before losing the previous game.

During the match, the form reflected the play. Even in a one-goal game, Buffalo had 18 more shots than the Chippewas and had eight more on goal. The Bulls also dominated possession, holding 16% more of the ball throughout the game.

Although many aspects of the game didn’t go the Chippewas' way, the intensity seemed to be there with senior forward Camryn Dunn and junior midfielder Rachel Jackson both receiving yellow cards.

Central Michigan had a season high in saves today with nine, seven from junior goalkeeper Brylee Borgman.

The chances of the Mid-American Conference Women’s Soccer Championship are becoming bleak, as this match leaves CMU in last place in the MAC. The Chippewas are nine points behind the last playoff position with just four games left in the season.

The Chippewas come back to Mount Pleasant to face Kent State at the CMU Soccer Complex at 7 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 16.
