The Isabella County Board of Commissioners held its first meeting of the year on Jan. 6, 2026. The meeting was brief, as they elected chairpersons and approved several motions to begin the year's meetings.

The board was all in favor of re-electing Frank Engler, District 4 representative, as board chairperson and Tobin Hope, District 7 representative, as vice-chairperson.

The board also adopted the bylaws and rules of procedure, approved the 2026 board meeting schedule, and announced chairperson's appointments for committees.

“I just want to say, we're starting a new year meeting in the Commission on Aging, and I do want to extend a thank you to the director of the Commission on Aging and the Commission for allowing them to host this year,” Jerry Jaloszynski, District 3 representative, said.

Jaloszynski also announced that the first Opioid Advisory Committee will be on Jan. 15 at the Central Michigan District Health Department.
