Central Michigan University President Neil MacKinnon announced that Harlan Teller, the vice president of University Marketing and Communications, resigned today, April 24, effective immediately, according to CMU News.
“I have appreciated the opportunity to get to know and work with Harlan over the past nine months,” MacKinnon wrote in a statement. “I look forward to continuing to partner in the incredible work of the University Marketing and Communications team in the months ahead as we make a plan for next steps."
After starting his role as vice president last August, Teller said he plans to return to his home in Arizona, according to CMU News.
CMU spokesperson Aaron Mills said the university doesn't comment on personnel matters in alignment with university policies.
"Personnel matters are complex and highly nuanced, and decisions for separation from the university are often multifaceted," Mills wrote in a statement to Central Michigan Life. "Every member of our community deserves privacy and respect during these transitions, and therefore the university does not comment on these situations."
A national search for the next vice president will be made after the University Marketing and Communications team meets to consider university needs. MacKinnon said the interim leadership will be announced soon.
