CMU Volleyball Falls to Oakland University
The Central Michigan University volleyball team was defeated by the Oakland Univeristy Golden Grizzlies in their home opener held in McGuirk Arena, Wednesday, Sept. 2, 2026. The Chippewas got their first mid-match victory after rallying in the third set, but were defeated in four.
CMU lost 27-29 in the first set, and followed it with another 20-25 loss in the second. They won the third set 25-20 and then lost the fourth and ultimately the match with a score of 17-25.
Outside hitter Taylor Cripe led the Chippewas with 16 kills throughout the match. Freshman middle blocker Brenna Stortz followed Cripe with 10 kills.
The Chippewas will host three more matches this weekend as part of The Heart of the Mitt Invitational, facing off against Illinois State University twice before going up against Michigan State University.
