Relay for Life 2016

Relay for Life, held in the IAC on April 9, 2016 generated money for cancer research and also allowed hundreds of people in the community to honor those that have been affected by cancer.

Students and community members gathered Jan. 22, by the Fabiano Botanical Garden to call for Gov. Rick Snyder's resignation and to support the people of Flint.

National Guard delivers bottled water, filters to Flint

Water bottles were distributed to Flint residents on Jan. 23 at the Flint Fire Department. Community members lined up down the block to receive water bottles and water filters from National Guard members. Donations were also taken at the Fire Department.

Unity Ball

Guests attend the Unity Ball at the Rotunda in Bovee on Saturday, January 23, 2016. Activities for the night included food, dancing, and a rehearsed dance put on by Humanity. The choreographed dance included topics such as discrimination, abuse, and suicide.

Let them be seen: CM Life alumnus Jake May gives a voice to people of Flint

Since the news broke that drinking water in Flint had been contaminated with lead, powerful images have framed the nation's understanding of the crisis, images that have been primarily shot through Jake May's lens.

May, a multimedia specialist at The Flint Journal and MLive.com and Central Michigan Life Editor-in-Chief from 2008 to 2009, has shown the human impact of the Flint water crisis in a way that only a community journalist can.

His photos have appeared in the New York Times, Washington Post, and Time Magazine, bringing the pain and strength and of the Flint community to readers around the world. The downtown Flint native shared a selection of his photos taken for The Flint Journal with Central Michigan Life and answered some of our questions about what it's like to be at the center of one of the worst tragedies to befall the struggling city.

On Dec. 4, 2015 Darth Vader came to CMU to prepare campus for the Star Wars edition of CM Life that is coming out on Monday Dec. 7, 2015.

Mount Pleasant Christmas Celebration

Students and members of the community enjoy the lighted displays and warming booths with hot chocolate and cookies set up throughout downtown Mount Pleasant. The parade occured at 6 p.m. on the second evening of Mount Pleasant's Christmas celebration on Saturday, Dec. 5, 2015.
