It was an unsuccessful trip to the land of Lincoln for the Central Michigan University soccer team this weekend.

CMU fell to Illinois State 5-1, Sunday. The lone Chippewas goal was scored by senior striker Emily Cooksey near the 90 minute mark.

"Today just wasn't our day," said head coach Peter McGahey. "We did leave today a little more experienced and looking forward to getting better. We should have some good days of training this week as we get ready to face Detroit."

On Friday, the Chippewas fell 2-1 to DePaul, conceding with less than eight minutes remaining in their season-opening opening match.

McGahey pointed to the weather as a major hurdle that led to CMU's less-than-satisfactory performance in both games this weekend.

The Chippewas hope to grab their first victory of the season Sunday, Aug. 31 at Detroit.
