Chippewas center Nick Beamish has been nominated for the Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

Senior center for the Central Michigan University football team Nick Beamish has been nominated for the 2015 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team.

The team is put together by Allstate and the American Football Coaches Association as a way to recognize off-the-field accomplishments of college football players. The organizations recognize a group who have made commitments to helping others and making a positive impact on their communities, while being able to balance academics and athletics.

Beamish was nominated for his volunteer work for Special Olympics throughout his four years at CMU. He has started every game he has played for CMU.

This year, there is a total of 197 nominees, and a final roster of 22 award recipients comprised of 11 players from the National College Athletic Association Football Bowl Subdivision and 11 players from the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision, Divisions II, III and the NAIA. Awards will be unveiled in September.

In order to meet the criteria, each player must be actively involved with a charitable organization or service group while maintaining a strong academic standing.

The AFCA Good Works team is comprised of past recipients including Super Bowl champion quarterbacks, Peyton and Eli Manning, ESPN analyst Matt Stinchcomb, Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III and two-time Heisman Trophy finalist Colt McCoy.
