Worship rock band to perform on campus

Thrive Community Church will host a free worship concert with an independent Christian worship rock band, The Spark, at 6 p.m. Nov. 1 in Plachta Auditorium.

This will be the first time Thrive Church has hosted a concert at Central Michigan University.

"I think there's a big shortage of quality shows on campus, especially ones with a positive message, and we're beyond excited to offer this great show to students and the community," said Dave Shephard, the creative director at Thrive Community Church.

The Spark has played a Sunday morning services in the past at Thrive Church. Shephard described the music as "something you wold expect to hear on a current radio station, but brings a powerful message through their songs."

Shephard said Thrive Community Church will have more of a presence on campus this year because they are trying to expand their ministry, and are looking for ways to reach out to the community.
