Three wrestlers earn at-large bids for national tournament, team now sending nine to St. Louis

The NCAA has just released the at-large bids for the National Wrestling Tournament in St Louis.

Senior Austin Severn (197), as well as juniors Brent Fleetwood (125) and Newton Smerchek (HWT) were each given at large bids this afternoon.

They will join senior Corey Keener (133), freshman Mason Smith (141), Colin Heffernan (157), CJ Brucki (171), Jordan Ellingwood (184) and sophomore Justin Oliver (149) in St. Louis March 16-18.

This makes nine Central Michigan wrestlers with tickets punched to the national tournament, up from five last season, leaving Freshman Logan Parks (165) the only starter not going to the national tournament.

The NCAA championships will be held at the Scottrade Center on March 16-18 and can be seen on ESPN.
