Despite a 13 strikeout and three hit complete game performance by senior pitcher Rachael Knapp, Central Michigan softball failed to complete the weekend sweep of the Mid-American Conference East opponent Kent State in a 3-2 loss.

CMU falls to 19-10 on the season and 4-2 in the conference, dropping them to second place in the MAC West behind Ball State.

The Golden Flashes jumped out to the early 1-0 lead in the top of the second when their senior pitcher Ronnie Ladines hit a home run out to left.

CMU would return the favor in the third off an RBI single off the bat of junior Maison Kalina, driving in two runs. Kalina and sophomore Allison Curtis led the Chippewas with two hits on the day for both.

Kent State managed to take the lead back after three scoreless innings. Two runs scored after Knapp walked two and gave up a hit, driving the runners in.

CMU has a short one day break before traveling to Kalamazoo to take on Western Michigan on Tuesday at 1 p.m. Western Michigan enters Tuesday's game last in the MAC West standings.
