Softball splits in final two games against Akron

In a three game road trip to Ohio, Central Michigan softball picked up the series win against Akron, splitting the final two games of the weekend.

CMU improves to 23-11 overall and 8-3 in the conference after going 2-3 on the weekend.

Game one

Senior Rachael Knapp picked up her 14th win on the year in the 7-0 shutout. The ace pitched the full game, recording seven strikeouts increasing her season total to 187.

Junior Maison Kalina went 3-4, recording an RBI and a run. Sophomore Allison Curtis added two hits and two runs.

Game two

Despite only being outhit 7-10, CMU stranded five runners on base and managed just two runs. Junior Hanna Warren took the loss, falling to 7-5 on the season.

Curtis and sophomore Rachel Vieira both picked up two hits, while Kalina continued her solid day recording two RBIs.

Softball will be back at Margo Jonker Stadium on Wednesday for a 2 p.m. game against Western Michigan.
